Darla’s Story
My journey as a counselor began years before formal training. During college my family faced the long road of my mother's terminal illness and subsequent death. The realities of grief, along with the stressors of my own personal health issues, left me in great need of wise and discerning support. Yet such support was not easily found. Gradually, the Lord sent trusted helpers who understood the nuanced realities of suffering from a Christ-centered perspective. As I received compassionate, wise, and truthful counsel, healing and hope took root. It was during this time that Paul's encouragement to the Corinthians became a compelling motivation for me:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
I eventually pursued formal education as a professional counselor. Since then I have served countless women in their time of need. My goal continues to be walking with women through hardships while bringing holistic truth to bear on their lives. My chief aim is to help women walk through seasons of trial and suffering in strength, while also understanding the truth of who they are in light of God's character and ways.
